April & May Favorites

monthly favorites

So I definitely missed my monthly favorites for April… life happens. So I decided to just combine both months into one ! Voila.

I have tried out a lot of new beauty products these past two months and I am SO excited to share them with you!!

This post contains affiliate links

First off I have to spotlight The Honest Company. I signed up for the monthly subscription with a half off introductory code and I am beyond impressed! The quality of the cosmetics is high and I love that they are cruelty-free, vegan and made with natural ingredients. I got the highlight and contour kit, the mascara , and the eyebrow pencil.

  1. I was a bit nervous to try the highlight/contour kit at first as it can be hard to tell if the shades are right for you when viewing them online. But it was a perfect match! I don’t contour daily, of course, but like to when I am going out or we are having people over. I don’t go crazy with it, just a little bit on my cheeks, nose and forehead. It is very creamy and blendable. And the highlight doesn’t look like you just smeared a disco ball on your face ! WIN! It is a light, natural highlight. I am obsessed !

2. The mascara is also much better quality than I had honestly expected. It has a primer on one end and the mascara on the other. It is easy to use, lasts a long time, gives my lashes crazy length and is easily build able without any flaking.

3. The eyebrow pencil is great too though I am not as in-love with this one. I have been using it daily and I do like it but I admit I love the Anastasia Brow Pencil more.

4. Next up is this Briogeo leave-in conditioner spray .Ladies- this stuff is AMAZING. I had received this in my Fab Fit Fun monthly box and fell in-love after the first time I used it. Colorado is super dry and I already have dry hair. This spray helps lock in some moisture, helps detangle my crazy knots after I take a shower, and leaves my hair smelling oh-so great. Plus, the best part- it doesn’t weigh down my already volume-less hair !

5. I ordered these floor pillows  from Wayfair and I am just loving them. They are huge and fluffy and I love all the colors. I throw them wherever we need them! Around the coffee table when I need extra seating or outside when we are playing in the teepees. I got two of them but thinking I may buy two more ! I got them on sale so they are very reasonably priced, especially compared to some other floor pillows ! The only thing I am not thrilled about is that on the one side it is a plain white. Which is not really a big deal, but they will look dirty faster if we use them outside.

6. I received this Smashbox Studio Skin Hydrating Foundation for free from Influenster for review. I use the Smashbox BB cream and really love it but this foundation is one of my favorites now! It really is hydrating, great for my dry skin, but does not make it shiny or greasy at all. It is a light-medium coverage while being very build able. I can add just a thin layer and it will cover my redness and blemishes but still able to see my freckles. If I add a bit more, I get more coverage without any flakiness. It is long lasting however I don’t personally think for 15 hours. I do have to reapply it later in the day if I wanted to cover my redness again.

7. For the last beauty product, I have another eyebrow product I wanted to share. I found this randomly at Khols and impulsed bought this one. Well, pretty glad I did !

There is a wax, a powder and then a highlighter. This highlighter has NO shimmer , which I love. I just sweep it under my finished brow and it makes them really pop. I am very pleased with how easily it glides on and how long it lasts. At the end of the day my brows are looking the exact same! The brand is called Eylure London and I got the darker brown shade. Not exactly sure the name as it doesn’t say on the product and I threw away the packaging.

8. I made a new rollerball for myself and it works so great I have to share this too! I did 10 drops each of Copabia, Panaway, and Peppermint (all oils in the premium starter kit) and topped it off with avocado oil. It relieves the sharp pains in my shoulder blades and the dull ache in my neck. I even made one for my sister because I know she will love it !

Well, that’s it for the past two months of my favorites! Thanks for stopping by and if you like this post, check out my other monthly favorites ….March Favorites and February Favorites.

I hope you all have an awesome weekend !

I haven’t tried any make up from The Honest Company but the Highlight and Contour Kit sound awesome. I’m weary of doing makeup purchases online too because you never know what you’re going to get. Glad it worked out for you! Smash box is one of my favorite brands of make up too!

These are some great ones I haven’t heard of! I’ve been using the Honest highlighter and enjoy it thus far! I may have to upgrade to the contour kit.

Yesterday we visited @seaquestlynchburg and had su Yesterday we visited @seaquestlynchburg and had such an amazing time ! The highlights were the stingrays showing off and squirting water at us, and the birds eating out of Liam's hand. For Theodore, it was all just fascinating. Every animal got an "ooo" and "awww" and wide eyes and a pudgy little finger pointing at it or a little hand excitedly waving high.
Then we spent some time at the little toddler play area in the mall where Theo hugged every kid there and had the biggest smile on his face the whole time.
I would say this week's homeschool field trip was a success!
Next week we're checking out our local library, and the week after that, the children's museum.
It's always so fun to explore a new area. ☺️

I don't always get a few quiet moments to myself, I don't always get a few quiet moments to myself, but when I do, I make the most of it !
I put on a homemaker or homesteading podcast, light a candle, sip hot tea...
It gives me time to slow down and take deep breaths, and relax a bit. (And I'll be honest, this time often also has a good snack involved or some dark chocolate I hid on the top shelf of the pantry 😆)

I spent some time yesterday during nap time restocking some herbs in my new apothecary cabinet. I filled jars of nettle, peppermint, red raspberry leaf, and rosemary. These dark amber jars are on Amazon and pretty perfect for storing herbs !
I'm dreaming of what herbs I'll be drying from my garden to add to these shelves 🤩

I'm curious- if you use herbs in your home, what are your top 3 most used ?
S'mores, burning brush, snuggling up with a blanke S'mores, burning brush, snuggling up with a blanket, and admiring our new house on the hill.

We've been busy setting up our new home, finding places for everything, and thrifting some furniture. Theo is already use to the new house and his new room. He loves the playroom in the basement and having a real bath tub!
Liam had his first playdate on Friday, and we're planning out his lego table this week. Nate has been busy fixing things around the house and helping me hang art and things all over.
It feels good to be finding a new rythm again. To have a regular bath night, and cooking big meals we eat around the table my grandpa built. We're dreaming of the garden this Spring, what fencing we can put up for animals, what color to paint the house...
and it just feels so so good to be in our own home again where we can do what we want and plan and dream for the future.
We got this gorgeous 1964 Thomasville china hutch We got this gorgeous 1964 Thomasville china hutch for $100 off FB marketplace! 🤩 It took 2 trips an hour away to bring this big gal home.
This is by far my most favorite piece of furniture I've ever owned. My original plan for this piece was to hold and display all my china, tea cups, and table linens.
But I also needed storage for all my herbs, herbal books, tinctures, salves, etc. I added a few jars of herbs and knew this needed to be a moody apothecary cabinet stat!
I threw a bunch of other decor and little things I love in there. I'm sure I'll rearrange it a dozen times before I love it. My goal is for two whole shelves to be filled with dried herbs from our garden by Fall. 🤍
I've got candles in a drawer, tablecloths in another, and the top drawer is random things, supplies and tinctures. The right cupboard is holding all my vases & jars, and the left cupboard is holding all my herbal and homesteading magazines.

What is the best FB marketplace find you've scored ??
I think this is my favorite!
I stopped by a children's resale store today after I stopped by a children's resale store today after Theo & I finally got in to see a chiropractor.
Best $18 I've spent, my goodness. He's been going down over and over, giggling and being silly and saying "ooo". When we go to a park, it's hard to get this kid away from the slide, so I would say sliding is one of his hobbies 😆
I just never want to forget this age. I can barely remember Liam when he was around this age - 17 months old is crazy and exhausting, but so so fun!
He wants to do what we are doing- putting on his shoes, brushing his teeth, combing his hair... he already wants to be a "big boy" and do things himself, but he still loves his mama sooo much and wants to snuggle all day long. 🤍
