June Favorites

How is it July?! I know I can’t be the only one thinking summer is flying by. I barely remember June! Didn’t we just celebrate Easter?

June surely did fly by but I still have to share my June favorites! And I am really excited to share some awesome new stuff I used all month long !  SO here we go…

This post contains affiliate links and I was given some of these products to try out for my honest review. All opinions are my own. To read my full disclaimer click here.

  1. Bella B is an organic mommy and baby company (made in the USA) that makes some pretty great stuff. I was generously given a few products to try out and I am SO glad that I did because I have been telling all my friends and family about this brand! I first want to spotlight their foaming face wash. It is made with organic ingredients, hypollagernic, and paraben free. It is supposed to help “minimize oily skin and blemishes with pharmaceutical grade tea-tree oil.” Now normally when I see any skincare that says it will help with oily skin I go running for the hills because my skin is already so dry.  But this glorious new favorite face wash of mine does not dry out my skin at all! In fact, it feels actually calming to my skin and the foamy lather smells so fresh and natural. I just love it ! Another huge plus is that this face wash is free of cleansers that are often not recommended for mothers during or after pregnancy (benzoyl peroxide, alpha hydroxy and salicylic acids). If you are going to try anything from this brand I highly recommend this face wash!june favorites
  2. My second favorite this month is also from Bella B. I tried out the Silk and Honey daily moisturizing lotion for me and my son. We have used it all month long and I am so happy to say that both my son and I have had no reactions to this one! We both seem to have sensitive skin more in the summer months than the winter months. I have no idea why! He also has dry skin like me (poor guy only inherited all my allergies and skin issues) so every night before bed I slather him down with lotion. I love that this lotion is not too thick and does not have a heavy scent. It is light and fresh and made with shea, mango, silk and honey. I got the 2 oz bottle and it lasted us about a month and a half using it almost every day. It’s a great size to throw in your purse/diaper bag too.june favorites
  3. My next favorite this month is actually not a product but a blog! Each month I want to share a favorite blogger of mine (which is seriously so hard to choose because I know so many amazing bloggers!) This month I want to feature Sara from Mother and Style Blog. I found her through one of the great blogging communities I belong to. I stalk her Instagram feed shamelessly because it is just so beautiful! Her photos are bright and crisp and happy. You cannot look at her Instagram and not feel inspired. Her blog is beautiful too! It’s clean, easy to navigate and again, inspiring. Her son is beyond adorable and her fashion sense is simple, sophisticated and actually obtainable for new mothers. Though I have not met Sara in person, just “virtually”, I can say her beauty really shines from the inside out. I am excited to see her blog grow and follow her along this crazy blogging journey! Please head on over to her blog and follow her Instagram too!

  4. I tried another new mascara because I never have really found the perfect one, ya know? There are some products that I am just satisfied with and know I will continue to buy them. Mascara is something I will always continue to try new brands and formulas. This month I tried out a mascara from a fairly new brand called Limelight by Alcone. My beautiful dear friend Melissa just started her own Limelight business and I bought the mascara from her at her launch party. So far, I am actually liking this brand a lot. The packaging for the makeup is clean but beautiful and the catalogue is really cute too. I am excited to try more products from this brand ! Back to the mascara… I first want to say that I adore the brush. Though I will use any type of mascara brush, the big and fluffy kinds are my favorite. I already have pretty long lashes so I usually look for more volumizing mascara than lengthening. This mascara gives both though! It has lengthening fibers and won’t smudge at all. I have tried mascara with fibers plenty of times and often it flakes off mid-day and I have lovely little black specks under my eye. I don’t get that from this mascara which is a win in my book! You can order yourself this awesome mascara at huntressofbeauty.comjune favorites
  5. Deodorant is not a fun thing to shop for. Right? Most people just head to the store and grab whatever one smells good. Do you even know what is IN your deodorant?? Most of the store antiperpsinats contain chemicals like aluminum chloride and nasty parabens that have been linked to breast cancer, lymph node cancer, Alzheimer’s disease and liver disease. Not so good. I read an article about 6 years ago warning about the potential effects of using these antiperspirants so I switched to a natural one right away. If you have tried the natural brands you can find at Sprouts, Whole Foods and even Target… you know that they really don’t work that great. I had to constantly reapply them and though they smelled great and I felt good about not using something filled with harmful chemicals… it really felt like i was just spreading perfume or lotion under my arms. I still got sweaty and smelly throughout the day anyways. Enter Humble brand and I am doing the happy dance ! This deodorant is made in small batches right here in the USA. No parabens, aluminum-free, cruelty-free, and organic. And it WORKS! Ladies, I know that deodorant normally is not something to get excited about… but for years I have been searching for something that actually works and I have finally found it. So yea, I may be a bit too excited, but YES! I have been using the lavender scent and the cedar wood. The lavender smells ah-maxing and the cedar wood would be perfect for your man too. It is more of a light, earthy scent. Another cool thing about this brand is that is completely affordable! You can have a monthly subscription so they are sent right to your door each month. It’s $8.00 every 3 months with a 3-month free trial and a $1.00 sign-up fee plus free shipping! Not too shabby, people.  ** Head to my Instagram for your chance to WIN one of these awesome deodorants! june favorites
  6.  With most days in the 90s now here in Denver, I usually don’t reach for a hot drink in the afternoon. All of June I have been sipping on the [amazon_textlink asin=’B07282YPXD’ text=’Pure Leaf Iced Green Tea with Citrus ‘ template=’ProductLink’ store=’Newmommasurvival’ marketplace=’US’ link_id=’dda49347-6006-11e7-887f-4ffb6c7d5670′] I boil about a cup of water and add it to the glass with the tea bag and let that steep for a few minutes. I then add ice and fill it to the top of the glass. Easy peasy! It is already sweet with the citrus but if I want it even sweeter I add this Kelly’s Delight Pure Cane Liquid Sugar  to it.    This is also a great iced tea to make a pitcher of for when friends are over. It is so refreshing and just a hint of that citrus ! Cheers

All right I want one of everything. The tea tree facial wash sounds glorious, and that tea looks amazing. Oh and that sweetener is interesting too. Definitely checking that out at the grocery store.

Happy Memorial Day ! Thank you to those who courag Happy Memorial Day !
Thank you to those who courageously gave their lives for our freedoms. 🇺🇸
Whew what a week ! Thank goodness for church and t Whew what a week ! Thank goodness for church and the good Word to renew and fill me with hope. Last week was a doozy and felt like it wouldn't ever end. Good & bad things happened, but more bad than I'd like. My grandma passed away and then we were in a stressful scramble for 2 days trying to figure out who could take care of our animals and dogs and garden & afford flights, a hotel and rental car to go to Chicago for the services(we ended up just having to book a flight for me & Liam and my husband and Theo will stay behind to hold down the homestead). We had a big playhouse we bought off FB marketplace delivered that Nate and Liam have been repairing and painting. It's turning out great ! I know many memories will be made in there, and I can't wait to share the before & afters. Though my poor husband has way too many projects going on at once again. 😬
My dog tried to eat baby bunnies. Twice 🤦‍♀️ Liam got some kind of poison ivy or poison oak rash all over and now today it has gotten pretty bad. His poor little cheek is all red and swollen and he's miserably itchy. Last night while driving home from a restaurant, I hit a coyote that jumped across the highway. Our brand new car's bumper is wrecked.
The other day I went to the garden to find all the marigolds I planted next to my tomatoe plants died out of nowhere, and something is eating my pole beans. 🙃
How I've been coping ?
1. Finally cracking open a prayer journal I got for Christmas from my best friend and pouring my heart out.
2. Spurts of intense deep cleaning that makes me utterly exhausted
3. Trying to plan a couple fun things while Liam and I are in Chicago for a few days. Liam was SO excited it would just be us two going on this trip because we don't get much time just the two of us since Theo was born. I want to make the best of it and think it will be nice for the focus to be on Liam for a few days.

Even though life has been busy and crazy and sad, I still just feel incredibly grateful and blessed for what the Lord has given me and my family. I'm ready to be home and hug my family and celebrate the beautiful life of my Grandma Alice.
Do you have plans to go camping with your kids thi Do you have plans to go camping with your kids this Summer ? I have a blog post from a few years ago that has a free printable kids packing list. This checklist gives kids an easy to follow list to be independent and responsible for their own pack for a weekend camping trip.
I don't know if we'll get to camping before baby gets here in July, but we plan to camp this Autumn for just short weekend getaways.
Now that Liam is 3 years older since creating that checklist, I may even add a couple more things. A tick remover to be added to his first aid kit would be helpful, and having his own bug spray.
Head ro the blog (link in my bio) to see the list and let me know if you'd add anything to it ! 😊
Tell me about your camping trips this Summer ! I'd love to know ⛺️
Yesterday Bowie brought home a limp baby bunny tha Yesterday Bowie brought home a limp baby bunny that I'm guessing was about 10 or so days old. His eyes were barely open. I had to scoop him up and push my dog out of the way who was super confused as to why I was so mad at him. I kept him warm and he snuggled into my arm and belly and fell asleep 😭 Liam searched and searched the thick brush at the edge of the forest, and deep into a thorn-covered bush, there was the little burrow with a few other little baby bunnies. He snuggled right back in next to them.
Bowie got into their burrow again today ! 😩 Liam was devastated, but I think they're alright.
Then we realized a finch made a beautiful nest with 3 little eggs in our shed, so we have to find a new home for the sweet nest as we're having our shed moved soon on our property to use as a chicken coop and to make way for building a garage. Any tips on how to safely move a bird's nest? 😬
And before anyone comes at me for not wearing gloves to pick this little babe up, there was no time. And it's a myth that a mama rabbit will reject their young just because they smell weird. We've had baby bunnies before and I'm guessing mama just gave them a good bath.
One of the most important people in my life made h One of the most important people in my life made her way up to heaven yesterday. My grandma Alice, my boy's GG, I imagine is slow dancing with Grandpa John and he's smiling with his blue eyes and saying "about time, Alice". My Grandma raised 5 children, was devoted to her church, gave to charities that were close to her heart, had many friends, traveled all over the world, and loved her husband fiercely. She was an amazing mother and THE best grandmother. I never went to her house without a proper tea time complete with cookies and little snacks. She took care of my family when my mom was diagnosed with stage 4 acute Leukemia when I was just 3 months old.
She was one of the first people I would call with good news, like when Nate proposed or I found out I was pregnant, or we were buying a house. She gave the best warm sincere hugs. Her laugh was contagious. I like to think my love for singing, roses, history, birds, and hosting comes from her. She made holidays so fancy and special. If I close my eyes I can hear the crackle of the fireplace at an Aubele Christmas party with a house full of Aubele's talking louder and louder with the smell of coffee and sweets in the dining room on the buffet. Laughter & warmth filling every inch of that house. I have always dreamed of a large family because of her. She was an amazing storyteller and often told me stories of our ancestors. And we have some pretty crazy family stories! She was proud to be Ojibwa and often reminded me to be proud as well. She was an amazing seamstress and made her grandchildren dolls & dresses & teddy bears. Family was the most important thing to her, and I knew at a young age that serving my own family someday was also what I wanted to do.
Even though she passed yesterday, I have been mourning my grandma for over a year. Dementia took hold of my sweet Grandma Alice and I couldn't call her on the phone anymore. When I saw her this April, she had no idea who I was or who my Dad, her own son, was. I couldn't call to tell her I was pregnant with my 3rd son. I couldn't call to tell her I moved from MT to VA and that we bought a homestead. My grandma has been gone for some time👇🏼
