With school starting in just a few weeks, we have been busy bees over here squeezing in our travels and also getting our son ready for Kindergarten! The last few weeks we have been practicing our numbers, letters, shapes and sharpening his penmanship skills. Thanks to our portable Kindergarten Toolkit, we have been able to keep up with our lessons on the go.
What I love about this kit is the simplicity. No fancy books and crazy distracting images. The kit is clean and simple and so easy to use. My son really loves the whiteboard and loves to draw. So if he gets through a mini lesson, I let him draw whatever he wants for a couple minutes before moving onto the next lesson.
This kit is very easy to use by any parent or caregiver. With 3 to 4 different activities for each goal, that is over 40 different lessons! Spend at least 30 minutes a week with your child on these lessons, and they will be ready to succeed in Kindergarten!

What is included:
- The Toolkit booklet focuses on 10 main Kindergarten goals.
There are 3-4 mini lessons for each of the 10 goals. Pages in the back of the booklet are designed to be copied so you can use them multiple times and with additional children. - Four sets of flashcards
– Upper and lower case letters
– Numbers 1-20
– 25 Kindergarten sight words
-10 colors and shapes
- Whiteboard, dry ease marker and eraser
- A piece of sidewalk chalk for outdoor learning
- A pencil
My son loves to learn only when it is a subject that interests him. He will sit and listen about animals, vehicles, or even weather patterns and seasons for long periods of time. But if I say it is time to practice our numbers and letters, he is whining and begging me to do something else. He has really struggled with letter recognition, though he can write any letter when looking at an example. So to motivate him to finish each mini lesson, I have started a reward chart! Each time he finishes a mini lesson, he gets a sticker added to his chart. Once his whole chart is full, he gets a prize. This can be a night out as a family to get ice cream or the latest superhero toy he has been coveting. Whatever the actual prize is, my son seems to just really enjoy seeing that sticker on his chart and feeling a sense of accomplishment each time he gets that shiny sticker put on his chart.
In addition to preparing my son academically for Kindergarten, we are also reading several social picture books to get him excited and confident to attend school. Here are some of our favorite books:

Love this!!! I can’t wait to see how Liam and Callie thrive in kindergarten! I can’t believe that I met you right before I started kindergarten! When the kids get better at writing we will have to have them be pen pals, we love you! Great article! ❤️🤟🏻
This looks like such a great tool for getting ready for kindergarten!
This is great!! I love how diverse the cards are and it looks like it’s the perfect size!
I also use a simple writing tools to teach my almost kindergartener. I find the more flashy the less work he does LOL this looks like a great product.
That toolkit is the coolest! And we love “Kindergarten, Here I Come”. My little one starts kindergarten in a few weeks and he’s so excited!

This is a great kit to help them get ready for kindergarten!
Kindergarten 😩😩 they grow so fast! I don’t want them to grow up but I so look forward to that milestone. Seeing them learn new things and just developing their own small minds 😍 I have a few years till we get there but love reading this and getting a good head start.
So bittersweet. I have a few years till we get there but I’m super excited about seeing him develop in that stage. 😍 kindergarten is one of my favorite memories of my oldest.
Thanks for the ideas!
I have some time before kinder, but it will be here before I know it. The reward chart is a great idea and I like that book !
