Mom & Baby Must-Haves With Babblebox

August 14th 2021 my rainbow baby was born! Theodore Jackson Barnett arrived at 4:28 PM weighing 9 lbs 1 oz and 22 inches long. (birth story to come soon!) We have prayed for years for this little angel baby and are just so filled with joy and gratefulness. My first was born in 2013 and SO many things have changed in the baby world since then. Boy clothes are cuter, there are several new baby brands and products, and overall just way more options for new mamas! Even though I am a second time mama, I feel like this all new to me! It has been so fun trying out new products and brands during my pregnancy and now that our baby is finally here! We were sent a fun box from Babblebox filled with mom & baby must-haves that I get to review and share with you!

This post is sponsored by Babblebox. All opinions are my own.

Via 2 Convertible Tote Bag from Lug Life

This stylish, water resistant convertible bag is so perfect for any new mama. You can wear it three ways: backpack, tote, or cross-body. I love the backpack straps so my bag is out of the way and I am hands-free. The straps for the backpack also fold way into the back pocket of the bag, which I think is really cool. This bag was perfect for strolling around town with! It has several pockets, including one that is the perfect size for a cell phone. The best part though is how spacious the bag is. I had all my diapering gear. snacks, a water bottle, extra clothes for baby, a couple of my older son’s toys, wallet and a little cosmetics bag. And I had plenty of room still!

Diaper Care from Noleo

I was really excited to try this natural diaper rash treatment out. I am so impressed with how well it helps protect and moisturize his newborn baby skin! He started to get a little rash/redness and I applied a thin layer of the NOLEO cream to find the redness was gone by his next diaper change! NOLEO leaves a natural oil barrier behind, so it’s super easy to wipe up the next poop off your baby’s behind. The 100% natural formula only has 5 simple ingredients: limewater, sunflower oil, olive oil, glyceral stearate, and beeswax. The cotton pads used for application are 100% organic cotton, too. To use : Simply add a pump to a disposable organic cotton pad and wipe baby’s bottom. Then just diaper as usual!

Skincare from Vichy

One of things I promised myself would be different this time around is making time for mama self-care. Keeping up with my skincare routine, drinking plenty of water, nurturing my body with wholesome foods throughout the day, squeezing in time to be outside… all things that can be easily neglected with a newborn at home. I got to try out a couple products from Vichy that are now part of my daily/weekly skincare routine. Created in 1931, Vichy is the #1 anti-aging brand in European pharmacies, and the #3 skincare brand recommended by dermatologists worldwide. I had been wanting to try this brand from some time, so I am glad this duo was included in the box!

We have all heard of the popular Vitamin C and Hyaluronic Acid ingredients in skincare products. While both of these are in a variety of different products, their percentage concentration matters and provides specific skin benefits. Vichy’s LiftActiv Pure Vitamin C Serum contains 15% Pure Vitamin C! This can help brighten and achieve a more even skin tone. Vichy’s LiftActiv Supreme H.A. Wrinkle Corrector is formulated with 1.5% Pure Hyaluronic Acid that plumps skin and reduces wrinkles. Using these two products, I am hoping I don’t look as tired as I feel these days!

Pink Cheeks Gift Box from Hoppy and Poppie

Once Theo is a little older, this set will be so fun to use with him! I definitely can see my older son teaching Theo how to use this toy. This set comes with a cute and colorful board book with slide and touch n’ feel features, two 6” soft plush toys that have a zipped pouch, and six emotion wristbands. These toys are actually tools to help build emotional intelligence. The child can choose from the sleeve of wristbands with the emotions, HAPPY, SAD, SCARED, EXCITED, ANGRY and CALM on them. While they are playing, a child can place the emotion wristband(s) for what Poppie is feeling inside the zippered pouch. They can also wear the wristband(s) that name the emotion(s) that they are feeling. Learning through play, it teaches colors and emotion vocabulary. The board book is fun and interactive and helps teach children to be self-aware and comfortable talking about their emotions. This set would make a great gift for new parents! Use code FRIEND10 for a 10% discount on any purchase.

Cleansing Gel + Lotion from Baby Magic

Theo’s first bath was a family event! My older son Liam was able to help out and my parents were still here visiting from North Carolina so they were here for baby’s first bath, too! It was no surprise that baby Theo loved the warm water just like big brother Liam did! No tears from this water baby. We used Baby Magic® cleansing gel, followed by their antioxidant rich cleansing lotion. Baby Magic® has been used by parents for over 65 years! My own mother used this brand for bath time for my sisters and I. Each Baby Magic® product is dermatologist tested and crafted for baby’s delicate skin, with nourishing formulas, wholesome ingredients and always made without parabens, phthalates, dyes and sulfates.

Lil’ Squish Jellyfish from Baby Banana

Baby Banana is a family owned and operated company, started by a dental hygienist after her
toddler nephew fell and a hard plastic toothbrush went through the roof of his mouth. Ouch! She decided
to invent the first bendable training toothbrush for toddlers, and also created the Lil’ Squish Jellyfish—A sensory rattle and teether in one. This soft, soothing rattle is easy for baby to grasp and mouth on. In a few short months, I am sure Theodore is going to just love this teething rattle!

Have you tried any of these brands/products before? What are your mom & baby must-haves ?

I wish you could smell these garden roses and this I wish you could smell these garden roses and this eucalyptus 😍
It's been a long time since I treated myself to some flowers, and they really do make me so happy.

It was 61 degrees and sunny today, and I needed the warm fresh air. Theo has been having serious sleep issues where he's screaming for hours every night. He has still yet to sleep through the night, and now he's up for hours at a time, and there's nothing I can do to soothe him. We are all exhausted. And now the only time he naps is if we're in the car. Lord, give me strength 🙏
The chiropractor doesn't seem to be helping, and I've called 3 pediatricians to only hear they're all booked until mid to late March for an appointment.
I've had a headache for 4 days now that is just relentless, making it hard to concentrate on anything. My hip is already killing me and I'm only 16 weeks pregnant 😩
It's been a rough several days.
So fresh flowers and epsom salt baths and essential oils and tea have been life-giving.
Home education with a busy crazy toddler... oh, th Home education with a busy crazy toddler... oh, the struggle is real 😆
He craves constant attention, needs a snack every 35 minutes, wants to climb on everything and everyone around him, and he cannot communicate his needs yet, but has THE biggest emotions.
My older son struggles with concentrating on his work anyways, so throw a loud toddler in the mix that just wants brother to play with him... it can feel chaotic.

So we take lots of wiggle and play breaks and it really benefits us all. I get 10 min to clean up or kick my feet up. The boys get to spend quality time together, use their imaginations, run around, and get their wiggles out.
And I'm trying to get better at setting up mess-free activities and busy work for Theo to keep him occupied for longer.
It hit me today as I observed this absolutely adorable scene of them playing restaurant while I made lunch...
If Liam was in school, Theo would only see him a few hours a day during the week and on weekends. They'd both be missing out on so much.

I know that's "normal" for any family's that choose public school, and there's of course nothing wrong with that at all. I'm just glad we all get to spend our days together, even when they're difficult.

This life we have chosen can be so draining. I am really starting to feel the exhaustion that comes along with pregnancy these days. But I see so many beautiful moments like this throughout the week, and I feel very blessed indeed that we get to do life this way.
Yesterday we visited @seaquestlynchburg and had su Yesterday we visited @seaquestlynchburg and had such an amazing time ! The highlights were the stingrays showing off and squirting water at us, and the birds eating out of Liam's hand. For Theodore, it was all just fascinating. Every animal got an "ooo" and "awww" and wide eyes and a pudgy little finger pointing at it or a little hand excitedly waving high.
Then we spent some time at the little toddler play area in the mall where Theo hugged every kid there and had the biggest smile on his face the whole time.
I would say this week's homeschool field trip was a success!
Next week we're checking out our local library, and the week after that, the children's museum.
It's always so fun to explore a new area. ☺️

I don't always get a few quiet moments to myself, I don't always get a few quiet moments to myself, but when I do, I make the most of it !
I put on a homemaker or homesteading podcast, light a candle, sip hot tea...
It gives me time to slow down and take deep breaths, and relax a bit. (And I'll be honest, this time often also has a good snack involved or some dark chocolate I hid on the top shelf of the pantry 😆)

I spent some time yesterday during nap time restocking some herbs in my new apothecary cabinet. I filled jars of nettle, peppermint, red raspberry leaf, and rosemary. These dark amber jars are on Amazon and pretty perfect for storing herbs !
I'm dreaming of what herbs I'll be drying from my garden to add to these shelves 🤩

I'm curious- if you use herbs in your home, what are your top 3 most used ?
S'mores, burning brush, snuggling up with a blanke S'mores, burning brush, snuggling up with a blanket, and admiring our new house on the hill.

We've been busy setting up our new home, finding places for everything, and thrifting some furniture. Theo is already use to the new house and his new room. He loves the playroom in the basement and having a real bath tub!
Liam had his first playdate on Friday, and we're planning out his lego table this week. Nate has been busy fixing things around the house and helping me hang art and things all over.
It feels good to be finding a new rythm again. To have a regular bath night, and cooking big meals we eat around the table my grandpa built. We're dreaming of the garden this Spring, what fencing we can put up for animals, what color to paint the house...
and it just feels so so good to be in our own home again where we can do what we want and plan and dream for the future.
