Hosting has always been one of my love languages. I thrive when I am planning some kind of gathering. I like to host people in my home and make them feel seen and loved and special. So for my monthly Ladies’ Craft Night, I decided to host a brunch for mother’s day to honor and celebrate motherhood ! I have always dreamed of hosting a girly garden party, and this one came together quite nicely. If you need an excuse to get your girlfriends together, consider having a backyard garden party!
The brunch was actually scheduled for the previous weekend, but the weather in NW Montana is wild, and it SNOWED that day, so I had to reschedule. The weather for my party ended being truly perfect. That extra week of party prep was perfect because I had been so focused on getting all the flowers and shrubs in the ground around my deck to make it feel more like a garden. I needed more time, and I got it. I was able to add a few more details and I think it made it all just so cute ! So read on to see the details of a mother’s day garden party brunch…
The Food
As with all of my craft nights, I asked the guests to bring a dish to share. I provided dessert and drinks, and also made some raspberry mini muffins. I love a potluck style gathering because there is always such a beautiful variety of food and it’s always a treat to see what everyone brings.
For dessert I made a Lemon 7UP bundt cake with a lemon glaze and chamomile flowers, and served macarons (from Costco) on a pretty stand.
Drinks were lemonade, water, coffee, and a mimosa bar. (With both champagne and sparkling cider)

The Decor
It can be easy for me to just keep going with party decor. But alas, I do have a budget (and a tight one at that) so I do have to have a stopping point. When buying party decor like this, I try to buy pieces I can use over and over again. This adorable fabric bunting banner can be used for so many different gatherings! I got drapey greenery from Hobby Lobby, and was going to leave it at that, but it looked too bare. So I added the flower strand, hung a few tiny clear glass vases that I added dainty flowers to, and tied in a handful of cute little butterflies. When you first look at it, you don’t really see the little details, I think that is what makes it fun! Once you start really looking at it, you see the little flowers and butterflies and it just adds the perfect amount of whimsy.

The tablescape
I pushed two 8 ft long tables together to make one big table. The tablecloths on the main table are from Walmart, the other tablecloths I have had for years.
The china and pink and green cups were thrifted many years ago and I have never been able to part with any of them! I also collect tea cups, so I just set some of those out for the coffee bar.
The cloth napkins are from Hobby Lobby, and I made napkin rings by hot glueing some burlap ribbon together. The paper favors for guests to take home are from Christy Beasley Creative – I printed them, cut them out, and assembled them. They turned out so cute!
I bought all my blooms from Safeway and threw together some simple arrangements. The centerpiece was in a teapot, and the others were in glass Ball jars.
The table was pretty wide for such a small centerpiece, so I would probably have added more to it if I had the time. But sometimes simple is fine, and there was plenty of room to have our glasses and dessert plates out without being crowded from a large centerpiece.

The Craft
To stay on theme with gardens, I set out little terracotta pots, paints and paintbrushes. I printed out some inspo pics to get us started. I had a tub of potting soil and little petunias for each lady to plant in their painted pots. We sipped mimosas and ate cake and painted in the sun, and it was glorious. We all agreed that it’s just really pleasant to be able to create and craft in peace!
