Summer in Montana is so short, it must be celebrated! Each month I host a themed ladies night, and for June we welcomed the first day of Summer together with a backyard picnic. We had fresh seasonal food, lots of sweets, some fizzy drinks, and made flower crowns. These monthly gatherings have been so fun to plan and host!

The Food
Every month, I ask the ladies to bring a dish to share and I provide dessert and drinks. We had a delicious spread again. Salads, waldorf chicken salad on croissants, fresh watermelon, chicken wings, and meatballs. And for desserts I made lemon balm and dandelion shortbread cookies, set out a pound cake bar, and had lemon curd tarts.

The Drinks
- Strawberry lemonade
- Water
- Elderflower mocktails or cocktails (with club soda or sparkling water, gin or vodka, and elderflower balsamic from Genesis Kitchen)

The Decor
As you can see, I went with a bright and sunny theme to welcome the sun back!
The yellow patchwork tablecloths are from Amazon and I thought these were so cute and I could use these for other gatherings.
I bought a few bunches of sunflowers and chamomile from Safeway.
The hanging paper fan sunflowers are also from Amazon.
I made a long rag bunting with several different fabrics from Hobby Lobby. I love how simple it is to make these and you can choose any color palette to match your party.

The Craft
I couldn’t think of a more fitting activity than making flower crowns for the Summer solstice! I gathered some flowers from my property and picked up some simple blooms from Safeway. I got the floral tape and wire from Amazon, and already had a few snips.
They all turned out so cute ! Wearing a flower crown makes me feel so feminine and whimsical ! I wish it was socially acceptable to wear one often.
